  • Venus Day & Night: Understanding Its Unique Rotation
    Venus rotates incredibly slowly and in the opposite direction of most other planets, including Earth. This means:

    * A day on Venus is longer than its year!

    Here's the breakdown:

    * Venus's rotational period: 243 Earth days

    * Venus's orbital period (year): 224.7 Earth days

    Therefore, a day on Venus is 117 Earth days longer than a year on Venus.

    It's also important to note that Venus is heavily cloud-covered. These thick clouds trap heat, making it the hottest planet in our solar system, with a surface temperature around 464°C (867°F). This means that the traditional concepts of day and night, as we experience them on Earth, don't really apply to Venus.
