  • Galileo and Saturn: The Truth About the Planet's Discovery
    Galileo did not discover Saturn. While he was the first to observe Saturn through a telescope in 1610, he did not recognize it as a planet with rings. He described it as having "ears" or "handles" on either side.

    It wasn't until 1655 that Christiaan Huygens, using a more powerful telescope, correctly interpreted those "ears" as a ring system surrounding the planet.
