  • Telescope Lenses: Understanding Convex and Concave Lenses
The pieces of shaped glass used to bend light in telescopes are called lenses.

There are two main types of lenses:

    * Convex lenses: These lenses are thicker in the middle than at the edges and converge light rays, focusing them to a point.

    * Concave lenses: These lenses are thinner in the middle than at the edges and diverge light rays, spreading them out.

Telescopes typically use a combination of lenses to gather light and produce an image.
