  • Jupiter's Moons & Lunar Mountains: Who Discovered Them?
Aristotle did not discover the moons of Jupiter or the mountains on the moon.

    Here's why:

    * Jupiter's Moons: Galileo Galilei was the first to discover the four largest moons of Jupiter (Io, Europa, Ganymede, and Callisto) using his telescope in 1610.

    * Mountains on the Moon: While the existence of mountains on the Moon was suspected long before the invention of the telescope, Galileo Galilei was the first to provide observational evidence of their presence using his telescope in the early 17th century.

Aristotle was a brilliant philosopher and scientist who lived in ancient Greece (384-322 BC), long before the invention of the telescope. While he made many significant contributions to astronomy, his observations were limited to what he could see with the naked eye.
