  • Understanding Southern Hemisphere Summer: Earth's Tilt and the Summer Solstice
When the Southern Hemisphere is tilted towards the sun, it is summer in the Southern Hemisphere.

    Here's why:

    * Earth's Tilt: The Earth is tilted on its axis at approximately 23.5 degrees. This tilt is the reason we have seasons.

    * Summer Solstice: During the summer solstice in the Southern Hemisphere, the South Pole is tilted towards the sun at its maximum angle. This results in longer days and more direct sunlight in the Southern Hemisphere, leading to warmer temperatures and summer.

    * Winter Solstice: At the same time, the North Pole is tilted away from the sun, resulting in winter in the Northern Hemisphere.
