  • International Space Station: First Human Habitation & Expedition 1
    The first permanent crew arrived at the International Space Station (ISS) on November 2, 2000. This crew, known as Expedition 1, consisted of:

    * William Shepherd (USA)

    * Yuri Gidzenko (Russia)

    * Sergei Krikalev (Russia)

    They lived aboard the ISS for over four months, marking the beginning of continuous human presence in low Earth orbit.
