  • Ceres: The Largest Asteroid in Our Solar System - Location & Facts
The biggest asteroid, by far, is Ceres. It's located in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter.

Here's why Ceres is considered the biggest:

    * Size: Ceres is the largest object in the asteroid belt and the only one classified as a dwarf planet. Its diameter is around 946 kilometers (588 miles), making it larger than the combined size of all other asteroids in the belt.

    * Mass: Ceres accounts for about a third of the total mass of the entire asteroid belt.

While other asteroids like Vesta and Pallas are also quite large, they are significantly smaller than Ceres.
