  • Winter Solstice: Which Hemisphere Faces the Sun?
During the winter solstice, the Southern Hemisphere is tilted towards the sun.

This is because the Earth is tilted on its axis at approximately 23.5 degrees. During the winter solstice in the Northern Hemisphere (around December 21st), the North Pole is tilted furthest away from the sun, while the South Pole is tilted towards the sun. This results in longer days and warmer temperatures in the Southern Hemisphere, while the Northern Hemisphere experiences shorter days and colder temperatures.
