  • Ptolemy's Planets: Understanding the Celestial Bodies of Ancient Astronomy
    In Ptolemy's time, there were seven known planets:

    * Mercury

    * Venus

    * Mars

    * Jupiter

    * Saturn

    * The Sun

    * The Moon

    It's important to note that the Sun and the Moon were considered planets in Ptolemy's geocentric model of the universe. This model placed Earth at the center of the universe, with all other celestial bodies revolving around it.

    Ptolemy's model remained the accepted view of the universe for over 1400 years until it was replaced by the heliocentric model of Nicolaus Copernicus.
