    The Galileo telescope was not "discovered," it was invented by Galileo Galilei in 1609.

    It's important to note that Galileo wasn't the first person to build a telescope. Hans Lippershey, a Dutch lensmaker, is credited with applying for the first patent for a telescope in 1608. However, Galileo significantly improved upon the design, making it much more powerful and useful for astronomical observation.
