  • Galileo Galilei: The First to Observe Lunar Craters with a Telescope
    The first person to use a telescope to discover craters on the moon was Galileo Galilei in the early 17th century. While he didn't specifically call them "craters," he observed and documented the numerous "pits" and "hollows" on the lunar surface, which we now know to be impact craters.
