  • Space Station Impacts: A History of ISS Meteoroid and Debris Strikes
The International Space Station (ISS) has been hit by space debris on a number of occasions.

In 2016, a meteoroid the size of a golf ball struck the ISS, causing damage to the station's thermal blanket and a window.

In 2018, a piece of space debris the size of a softball hit the ISS, creating a hole in the hull of the station. The ISS crew members were able to repair the damage using epoxy and tape.

In 2019, a piece of space debris the size of a baseball hit the ISS, creating a small dent in the hull of the station. The ISS crew members were able to repair the damage using a patch kit.

In addition to these incidents, the ISS has also been hit by smaller pieces of space debris on numerous other occasions. These pieces of debris are often too small to cause any significant damage to the ISS, but they can still pose a hazard to the station's crew.
