  • Uncrewed Spacecraft: Definition, Instruments & Missions
An uncrewed spacecraft, also known as a robotic spacecraft, probe, or satellite, is a spacecraft that does not carry a human crew. These spacecraft are equipped with various scientific instruments and sensors to collect data and information about celestial bodies, space environments, and other scientific phenomena. They can capture visual images, and perform a variety of scientific observations and experiments remotely. These missions are controlled by ground-based teams of scientists and engineers who can send commands and receive data from the spacecraft. Uncrewed spacecraft have the advantage of being able to access extreme and hazardous environments that would be inhospitable or impractical for humans to explore directly.
