The first person to orbit the Moon was Frank Borman. He was the commander of Apollo 8, which was the first crewed mission to the Moon. The mission launched on December 21, 1968, from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Borman, along with crewmates Jim Lovell and Bill Anders, spent about 20 hours in lunar orbit. They completed 10 orbits of the Moon before returning to Earth on December 27, 1968.
