  • Stratosphere Flight: Why Helicopters Can't Reach It
Helicopters cannot reach or fly within the stratosphere. The stratosphere is a layer of the atmosphere that starts about 10-12 kilometers above the earth's surface, well beyond the reach of helicopters. Helicopters typically have service ceilings of around 4-6 kilometers due to the drop in air density and reduced lift as they climb higher. To fly in the stratosphere, specialized high-altitude aircraft, rockets, or balloons are required.
