  • Comets vs. Planets: Understanding the Difference
    A comet is not considered a planet. Comets are icy objects that orbit the Sun, but they are much smaller than planets and have a different composition. Comets are made mostly of ice and dust, while planets are made mostly of rock and metal. Comets also have a much more elliptical orbit than planets, meaning that their distance from the Sun varies greatly throughout their orbit.
