There are about 2,000 active artificial satellites currently orbiting Earth. This includes satellites used for communications, weather forecasting, navigation, Earth observation, and broadcasting. Additionally, there are an estimated several thousand satellite pieces of debris in orbit, including dead satellites, rocket parts, and other fragments. These objects can pose a risk to operational satellites and space missions.
