  • What Happens If a Planet Loses Its Orbit? Causes & Consequences
A planet not in orbit would likely experience several significant changes and would behave very differently from planets that are stably orbiting a star.

    - Without the gravitational pull of a star, the planet would no longer be bound to the star's gravitational field and would begin to drift away. This process is often referred to as "ejection" or "escape from the star system".

    - Without a stable orbit, the planet's trajectory would be unpredictable. It could become a rogue planet, wandering through space without any gravitational influence. Alternatively, it could be captured by the gravitational pull of another nearby star or massive object, leading to a new orbital path.
