  • Why is the Sky Pink at Sunset? Understanding Atmospheric Scattering
The sky does not appear pink due to the sun being yellow. The colors we perceive in the sky are caused by the scattering and reflection of sunlight by molecules and particles in the atmosphere, such as nitrogen and oxygen molecules, water droplets, dust, and aerosols.

During sunrise and sunset, when the sun is close to the horizon, the sunlight has to travel through a longer path of the atmosphere to reach our eyes. This results in more scattering of blue and violet light by the molecules and particles, making the sky appear reddish or orange. The actual color of the sky can vary depending on factors like the amount and type of particles present in the atmosphere, the time of day, and the weather conditions.
