  • Understanding the Clear Eye of a Hurricane: Why Clouds Disappear
The air in the center of a hurricane is descending, so any clouds that form inside the eye quickly evaporate. Additionally, the strongest centrifugal forces in a hurricane occur outside the eye, where the tangential winds are strongest. These forces tend to push the clouds away from the center of the storm.
