    2. Thermostabilized Foods: These are foods preserved through a heat treatment process that eliminates microorganisms. Examples include canned goods, pre-cooked dishes, and retort pouches.

    3. Natural Foods: Some naturally shelf-stable foods are included in the astronaut's diet, such as nuts, granola bars, dried fruits, and packaged snacks.

    4. Fresh Fruits and Vegetables: Limited quantities of fresh produce are sometimes available during missions, especially for shorter duration missions closer to Earth. These are carefully selected for their shelf life and nutritional value.

    5. Breads and Tortillas: Astronauts have access to specially formulated breads and tortillas that can withstand the space environment and remain edible for extended periods.

    6. Beverages: Astronauts have a selection of beverages, including packaged water, flavored drinks (in single-serving containers), and a coffee/tea maker for hot beverages.

    To prepare food in space, astronauts use a specially designed galley equipped with a microwave oven, a rehydrator for adding water to freeze-dried foods, and a water dispenser. The lack of gravity requires them to use utensils like spoons and pouches adapted for microgravity conditions.

    Astronauts work closely with nutritionists and food scientists to develop and maintain a balanced and palatable diet that meets their nutritional requirements and helps them stay healthy and energized throughout their missions.
