There is no definitive evidence that the ancient Etruscans were immigrants from Anatolia or what is now modern-day Turkey. While a number of similarities have been noted between Etruscan culture and that of the Hittite Empire, as well as other areas of Anatolia, that may indicate trade and cultural interaction, the exact origins and ethnic identity of the Etruscans remain one of the most contentious and studied topics in Etruscan studies.
