The move comes as Yahoo struggles to keep up with Google, which has been steadily gaining market share in the search market. Yahoo's search share fell to 16.6% in April, down from 18.1% a year earlier, according to comScore. Google's share, meanwhile, rose to 67.6%, up from 64.7% a year earlier.
Yahoo's new search results page will feature a larger logo and search box at the top of the page, followed by a row of tabs for different types of content. The first tab will be for "Web," followed by tabs for "News," "Videos," "Images" and "Local."
When users click on a tab, they will be taken to a page that displays featured content for that type of content. For example, the "News" tab will display a list of recent news articles, while the "Videos" tab will display a list of recent videos.
Yahoo is also planning to add more personalization to its search results. Users will be able to choose the order of the tabs on the search results page, and they will also be able to choose which types of content they want to see.
Yahoo hopes that the new search results page will make it easier for users to find the information they are looking for. The company also believes that the new page will help it to compete more effectively with Google.
"We are making these changes to improve the search experience for our users and to make Yahoo the best place to find information," Yahoo said in a statement. "We are confident that these changes will help us to better serve our users and to grow our search business."
