introduction
Balancing work and family obligations can be a challenging task, especially for mothers who often bear a disproportionate burden of caregiving responsibilities. National policies can significantly influence mothers' ability to achieve a healthy work-life balance, by providing support mechanisms, promoting flexible work arrangements, and addressing gender inequalities. This study aims to explore how national policies in different countries affect mothers' experiences and challenges in balancing work and family life.
Research Questions:
1. What are the key national policies that impact mothers' work-family balance in different countries?
2. How do these policies influence mothers' ability to manage their work and family responsibilities?
3. What are the similarities and differences in the impact of national policies on mothers' work-family balance across different cultural contexts?
4. What are the best practices and successful policy interventions that have been implemented to support mothers' work-family balance?
Methods:
The study will adopt a comparative research design, examining national policies and their impact on mothers' work-family balance in a diverse range of countries. Data collection methods may include:
- Document analysis of national policies and regulations related to maternal employment, childcare support, flexible work arrangements, and family-friendly workplace practices.
- Qualitative interviews and focus group discussions with mothers from different socio-economic backgrounds and industries to gain insights into their experiences and challenges in balancing work and family life.
- Quantitative surveys to collect data on mothers' perceptions of the effectiveness of national policies and the impact on their work-life balance.
Analysis:
Thematic analysis will be used to analyze qualitative data, identifying patterns and common themes in mothers' experiences and challenges. Quantitative data will be analyzed using statistical techniques to examine the relationships between national policies and mothers' work-family balance outcomes. Cross-country comparisons will be made to understand similarities and differences in the impact of national policies across different cultural contexts.
Significance:
The findings of this study will contribute to our understanding of the role of national policies in supporting mothers' work-family balance. The insights gained from this research can inform policymakers, employers, and stakeholders in designing effective interventions and policies that enhance mothers' ability to successfully navigate their work and family responsibilities. Ultimately, this study aims to promote gender equality, improve women's well-being, and create more inclusive and family-friendly workplaces.
