Two Dinosaur Skeletons Up for Auction in Paris

PARIS—A pair of dinosaur skeletons are going up for auction in Paris next week, with experts estimating they could fetch up to €1.5 million ($1.7 million).

The skeletons, a _Tyrannosaurus bataar_ and a _Triceratops horridus_, were discovered in Mongolia in 2006 and 2011, respectively. They are both nearly complete, with the _T. bataar_ measuring over 8 meters (26 feet) in length and the _T. horridus_ measuring over 6 meters (20 feet) in length.

The auction, which will be held by Christie's on June 13, is expected to attract bidders from around the world. In recent years, dinosaur skeletons have become increasingly popular among collectors, with some fetching prices in the tens of millions of dollars.

The _T. bataar_ skeleton is estimated to sell for between €600,000 and €800,000, while the _T. horridus_ skeleton is estimated to sell for between €700,000 and €900,000.

"These are exceptional specimens," said Thomas Perron, head of Christie's Natural History Department. "The _T. bataar_ is one of the most complete examples of this species ever found, and the _T. horridus_ is the largest and most complete example of its kind ever to be offered at auction."

The skeletons will be on display at Christie's in Paris from June 7 to June 12.
