  • Putin's Support: Key Demographics Revealed by Pew Research
A 2022 study by the Pew Research Center found that support for Russian President Vladimir Putin is generally highest among men, older generations and those with traditionalist values.

Key findings from the study include:

Gender: Men in Russia are more likely than women to approve of Putin's job performance. In 2022, 74% of men approved of Putin's job performance, compared to 62% of women.

Age: Support for Putin also increases with age. In 2022, 71% of Russians aged 50 and older approved of Putin's job performance, compared to only 35% of those aged 18 to 29.

Education: Russians with lower levels of education are more likely to support Putin. In 2022, 70% of Russians with a secondary education or less approved of Putin's job performance, compared to 55% of those with a university degree.

Traditionalist values: Russians who hold traditionalist values are more likely to approve of Putin. In 2022, 72% of Russians who said religion is very important to them approved of Putin's job performance, compared to only 49% of those who said religion is not very or not at all important to them.

These findings suggest that support for Putin is driven by various demographic and social factors. Men, older generations and those with traditionalist values are more likely to view Putin favorably.
