  • Transparency in One-Time Transactions: A Competitive Disadvantage?
    Hurts

In one-time transactions, buyers are more likely to be opportunistic, as they do not have to worry about future business dealings with the seller. If the seller is completely transparent about their costs, the buyers will capture most of the surplus as they will bid or negotiate down to the transaction's true cost. Therefore, transparency tends to hurt sellers with one-time transactions.
