  • Solar Wind Source: Understanding Coronal Holes
Most of the solar wind flows from coronal holes.

Coronal holes are areas in the Sun's corona where the magnetic field lines extend far out into space, instead of looping back to the Sun's surface. This open magnetic field allows solar wind to escape more easily.

While other regions of the Sun contribute to the solar wind, coronal holes are the primary source, especially during periods of low solar activity.
