Here's why:
* Extreme Heat: The Sun's surface temperature is about 10,000 degrees Fahrenheit (5,500 degrees Celsius). Even the most heat-resistant materials known to humans would melt instantly.
* Radiation: The Sun emits intense radiation, including X-rays and ultraviolet light, which would be lethal to humans.
* Gravity: The Sun's gravity is incredibly strong. It would be impossible for a spacecraft to escape its pull.
While no human has been to the Sun, we have sent spacecraft to study it. The Parker Solar Probe is currently making close approaches to the Sun's outer atmosphere, providing unprecedented insights into its workings.
