  • Lunar Phases from the Sun: Would the Moon Still Show Phases?
You can't live on the sun, as it is a giant ball of superheated gas. However, if you were somehow able to observe from the sun's surface, you wouldn't see the moon go through phases. Here's why:

    * The Sun is the light source: The moon's phases are caused by the changing angles of sunlight reflecting off its surface as it orbits the Earth. If you're on the sun, you are the light source, so the moon would always be illuminated from your perspective.

    * The moon's position: You would always be looking at the moon from the same direction, as it orbits the Earth. This means you'd only see one side of the moon, and it would never appear to change shape.

So, while you might be able to see the moon from the sun, it would always look like a fully illuminated disk, with no phases.
