  • Equinoxes: When Does the Sun Shine Equally on Both Hemispheres?
The sun shines equally on both the northern and southern hemispheres during the equinoxes. There are two equinoxes each year:

    * Vernal Equinox (Spring Equinox): Around March 20 or 21.

    * Autumnal Equinox (Fall Equinox): Around September 22 or 23.

On these days, the Earth's axis is tilted neither towards nor away from the sun. This means that both hemispheres receive an equal amount of sunlight, resulting in roughly 12 hours of daylight and 12 hours of darkness everywhere on Earth.
