  • The Moon Landing Flag: Where Is It Now?
There is no flag on the Moon. The American flag planted by Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin during the Apollo 11 mission in 1969 is still there, but it is no longer standing.

    Here's why:

    * Sunlight and radiation: The harsh conditions on the Moon, including constant exposure to sunlight and radiation, have bleached the flag's colors and caused the fabric to deteriorate.

    * No atmosphere: The lack of an atmosphere on the Moon means there is no wind to keep the flag waving, so it likely collapsed soon after being planted.

    * Telescopic images: Though it's hard to see the flag from Earth, images taken by lunar orbiters have shown that it is still there, though faded and lying on the lunar surface.

So, while the flag remains on the Moon, it's not in the same condition as when it was first planted.
