  • Eclipse Safety: Why Mirrors Are Not a Safe Viewing Method
You should never look at the sun directly, even during an eclipse, and that includes using a mirror.

    Here's why:

    * Sunlight is incredibly powerful. Even during an eclipse, the sun's rays are still intense enough to cause serious eye damage, including blindness.

    * Mirrors reflect sunlight. Reflecting sunlight off a mirror would concentrate the rays and make them even more dangerous to your eyes.

Safe ways to view an eclipse:

    * Solar eclipse glasses: These are specially designed glasses with a very dark filter that blocks harmful UV rays.

    * Solar viewers: These are handheld devices with a similar filter.

    * Pinhole projection: This method uses a small hole to project an image of the eclipse onto a surface.

    * Telescope or binoculars with solar filters: Never use a telescope or binoculars to view the sun without a certified solar filter.

Remember, protecting your eyes is crucial during an eclipse. Don't take any risks!
