    The moon doesn't actually produce its own light. It shines because of reflected sunlight. Here's how it works:

    1. Sunlight: The sun is a giant ball of burning gas that emits light and heat.

    2. Reflection: When sunlight reaches the moon, it bounces off the moon's surface. This reflected light is what we see as moonlight.

    3. Phases of the Moon: The moon's phases (new moon, crescent, full moon, etc.) are caused by the changing angles at which sunlight hits the moon and reflects back to Earth.

    Think of the moon like a giant mirror in space. It doesn't generate its own light, but it reflects the sun's light, making it appear to shine.
