  • Solar Eclipse: What's Visible During Totality?
During a total solar eclipse, the only part of the sun that can be seen is the corona.

The corona is the sun's outermost atmosphere, and it's usually hidden by the bright light of the sun's surface. However, during a total eclipse, the moon completely blocks out the sun's surface, allowing us to see the faint, wispy corona.
