  • ISS Sunrises: How Often Do Astronauts Witness the Dawn?
Astronauts on the ISS see a sunrise 16 times every 24 hours.

    Here's why:

    * Orbital Period: The International Space Station orbits Earth roughly every 90 minutes.

    * Sunrise Frequency: Since the ISS completes an orbit in 90 minutes, and there are 24 hours in a day, it completes approximately 16 orbits in a day. Each orbit means passing through a sunrise (and sunset).
