  • Understanding Light and Black Objects: Frequency & Reflection
    This is a bit of a tricky question! Here's why:

    * Black objects don't emit light: A black object appears black because it absorbs almost all wavelengths of visible light. It doesn't actually "emit" light of any frequency.

    * Reflection is key: You see a black object because some light is *reflected* off of it, even if it's a tiny amount. This reflected light is what reaches your eyes.

    * All colors, but very faintly: The reflected light from a black object will contain all the colors of the visible spectrum, but at a much lower intensity than from a colored object.

    Therefore, the frequency range of light you see when looking at a black object is the same as the visible light spectrum, but at very low intensity. This is why black objects appear to have no color, as our eyes don't perceive the faint reflection of all colors.
