Understanding Power
* Power is the rate at which work is done.
* Work is done when a force moves an object over a distance.
* Formula: Power = Work / Time
What We Need to Know
1. Weight of the object (N): This is the force the machine is working against (measured in Newtons).
2. Distance the object is lifted (d): This is how far the machine moves the object (measured in meters).
Calculating Power
1. Calculate Work: Work = Force x Distance = N x d
2. Calculate Power: Power = Work / Time = (N x d) / 6 seconds
Example
Let's say the object weighs 100 Newtons (N) and is lifted 2 meters (d).
1. Work: Work = 100 N x 2 m = 200 Joules (J)
2. Power: Power = 200 J / 6 seconds = 33.33 Watts (W)
Therefore, the power of the machine is 33.33 Watts.
Important Note: Make sure the units are consistent (Newtons for force, meters for distance, seconds for time).
