    The force exerted by a gas is called pressure.

    Here's why:

    * Gas molecules are constantly moving: They collide with the walls of their container and with each other.

    * Collisions create force: Each collision exerts a tiny force on the container walls.

    * Pressure is the average force: Pressure is the average force per unit area exerted by these collisions.
