  • Radio Waves vs. Infrared Waves: Speed, Frequency & Wavelength
Radio waves and infrared waves are both forms of electromagnetic radiation, and as such, they travel at the same speed: the speed of light.

This speed is approximately 299,792,458 meters per second (186,282 miles per second) in a vacuum.

What differs between radio waves and infrared waves is their frequency and wavelength:

    * Radio waves have lower frequencies and longer wavelengths than infrared waves.

    * Infrared waves have higher frequencies and shorter wavelengths than radio waves.

This difference in frequency and wavelength affects how they interact with matter, but not their speed of travel.
