  • Understanding Velocity: Speed vs. Direction Explained
The velocity of an object includes its speed and direction.

    Here's why:

    * Speed tells you how fast an object is moving.

    * Direction tells you which way the object is moving.

For example, a car traveling at 60 miles per hour (mph) has a speed of 60 mph. But, to fully describe its velocity, you need to know the direction it's moving, like "60 mph east."

Velocity is a vector quantity, meaning it has both magnitude (speed) and direction.
