  • Calculating Acceleration: What You Need to Know
    You can't determine acceleration just from knowing the final speed is 8 meters per second. Here's why:

    * Acceleration is the rate of change of velocity. This means it tells us how quickly the speed and direction of an object are changing.

    * You need more information. To calculate acceleration, you need to know:

    * Initial speed: What was the speed before it increased?

    * Time taken: How long did it take for the speed to change from the initial speed to 8 meters per second?

    Here's the formula for acceleration:

    * acceleration (a) = (final speed (v) - initial speed (u)) / time (t)

    Example:

    If the object started at rest (initial speed = 0 m/s) and reached 8 m/s in 2 seconds, the acceleration would be:

    * a = (8 m/s - 0 m/s) / 2 s = 4 m/s²
