  • Understanding Acceleration: Continuous Changes in Speed
When the speed of a body moving in a straight line changes continuously, it acquires acceleration.

    Here's why:

    * Acceleration is defined as the rate of change of velocity.

    * Velocity includes both speed (how fast an object is moving) and direction.

    * If the speed is changing, then the velocity is also changing, even if the direction is constant.

Therefore, a continuous change in speed implies a continuous change in velocity, resulting in acceleration.
