  • Coulomb's Law: Understanding the Relationship Between Charge and Force
Coulomb's Law states that the electrostatic force between two point charges is:

    1. Directly proportional to the product of the magnitudes of the two charges. This means if either charge is doubled, the force doubles.

    2. Inversely proportional to the square of the distance between their centers. This means if the distance between the charges is doubled, the force is reduced to one-fourth its original value.

So, the force depends on the magnitude of the charges and the distance between them.
