  • Forces Acting on Objects Immersed in Liquids: Buoyancy and Weight
When a body is immersed in a liquid, the two main forces acting on it are:

    1. Buoyant Force: This force acts upwards, opposite to the direction of gravity. It is the force exerted by the liquid on the body, and it is equal to the weight of the liquid displaced by the body.

    2. Weight: This force acts downwards, due to the gravitational attraction between the body and the Earth.

These two forces determine whether the body will float or sink. If the buoyant force is greater than the weight, the body will float. If the weight is greater than the buoyant force, the body will sink.
