Understanding Velocity

Velocity is a measure of how fast something is moving *and* in what direction. Since we only have information about distance and time, we'll calculate speed, which is the magnitude of velocity.

Formula

Speed = Distance / Time

Calculations

* Distance = 1 meter

* Time = 3 seconds

Speed = 1 meter / 3 seconds = 0.33 meters per second
