  • Conductors: Understanding Materials with High Electrical Conductivity
A material that has very little resistance to current flow and permits electrons to move through it easily is called a conductor.

Here are some examples of good conductors:

    * Metals: Copper, silver, gold, aluminum are excellent conductors.

    * Graphite: A form of carbon, graphite is a good conductor due to its layered structure.

    * Electrolytes: Solutions containing ions, like saltwater, are good conductors.

    * Plasma: Ionized gas, like the sun, is a very good conductor.

The opposite of a conductor is an insulator, which has high resistance and does not allow electrons to flow easily.
