1. Gravity: This force pulls you downwards, trying to bring you closer to the center of the Earth.
2. Buoyancy: This force pushes you upwards, counteracting gravity. It is caused by the pressure difference between the fluid (water, air, etc.) at the bottom of the object and the fluid at the top of the object.
When you are floating, these two forces are balanced. Gravity is pulling you down, but buoyancy is pushing you up with an equal force. This equilibrium is what keeps you afloat.
