  • Understanding Velocity Changes: Speed and Direction
Velocity can change in two ways:

    1. Change in Speed: This means the object is moving faster or slower.

    * Example: A car accelerating from a stop sign increases its speed, therefore increasing its velocity.

    2. Change in Direction: This means the object is changing the path it's traveling on, even if its speed remains constant.

    * Example: A car turning a corner maintains a constant speed, but its velocity changes because its direction of motion is changing.

Important Note: Velocity is a vector quantity, meaning it has both magnitude (speed) and direction. Therefore, any change in either speed or direction results in a change in velocity.
