  • Understanding Object Speed: Velocity and Acceleration
The two main factors that determine the speed of an object are:

    1. Velocity: This is the rate at which an object changes its position. It describes both the speed and direction of an object's motion. A higher velocity means a faster speed.

    2. Acceleration: This is the rate at which an object changes its velocity. A positive acceleration means the object is speeding up, while a negative acceleration means the object is slowing down. The greater the acceleration, the faster the change in speed.

    In simpler terms:

    * How fast something is moving (velocity) determines its current speed.

    * How quickly that speed is changing (acceleration) influences how fast the object will be moving in the future.
